  • 2014 Evangelistic Christmas

2014 Evangelistic Christmas Arise, Shine! Christmas 2014 was different from years past. The W&M Ministry put together an evangelistic musical entitled "Arise, Shine!" Three shows were staged, all of which saw our Sanctuary filled. Leading up to Christmas, members were strongly encouraged to invite their pre-believing friends as the focus of this musical was to reach out to them. We thank God for the 13 salvations and three re-dedications over the course of the two days. You may also like Share Testimony 2015 Unsung Heroes 1984 Musical 2010 - 2021

  • 2005 WSCS Christmas Outreach

2005 WSCS Christmas Outreach The Women's Society of Christian Service (WSCS) organized a Hokkien outreach for the “Son’shine Mums'' on 17 December 2005, in conjunction with the “Son”shine Kids Christmas party. A total of 65 people attended the event, although only a small number of “Son"shine Mums joined the session. The speaker, Mark Ng from New Creation Church, shared his personal testimony on how he found God and explained the “logic” behind certain Chinese religious practices. A charismatic and entertaining speaker, he was able to engage the audience with his lively and humorous sharing. We thank God for the four people who responded to the altar call, and one person who rededicated her life to the Lord. • 2005 Jesus Encounter

2005 Jesus Encounter A Life Transforming Experience What is an encounter with God? In the bible, we read of several well-known biblical persons who had encounters with God. Moses met with the Lord in the burning bush (Exodus 3) ; Jacob wrestled with God (Genesis 32) ; and Paul met Jesus on the road to Damascus (Acts 9) . An encounter is simply the experience of coming face to face with God and the truth of His word. At the recent Jesus Encounter (JE) session held on 29 - 30 July 2005, over 80 cell members took the opportunity to examine and confront negative influences and patterns in their lives; as well as deal with strongholds or bondages which were preventing them from living in the freedom and wholeness that God has planned for all our lives. Assured of Who I Am in Christ Paul Tan Before JE Although I have been a so-called Christian for almost 13 years, I felt that my daily personal walk with Jesus was very empty, dry and unfulfilled. Deep down in my heart, I wondered how to and yearned to encounter God and experience my first love for Him again as my almighty and loving personal saviour. During JE The teaching and sharing on the ministry of the Holy Spirit were an eye-opener for me. I confessed, and thank God that He removed my long-held phobia and prejudice towards those who speak in tongues and manifest different kinds of body movements during worship. I was given a new insight and understanding on the gift and power of the Holy Spirit. I also learnt how to identify and overcome the spiritual strongholds in my life, which I now realise could have been the strong, hidden barrier in my spiritual journey with Christ. After JE I thank God that my spiritual walk with Him has become livelier day after day. I am more vigilant in checking my lifestyle, thoughts and deeds. I have also been more determined, and have reminded myself, to meditate regularly on the Word of God. Lastly, I am more assured of my position in Christ, and have become more appreciative of and acquainted with the leading of the Holy Spirit. • 2008 WSCS Week of Prayer & Self-Denial

2008 WSCS Week of Prayer & Self-Denial The WSCS Week of Prayer and SelfDenial was observed from 14-20 September 2008. During the week of prayer and fasting, church worshippers were encouraged to pray for our families, church, community, nations and Missions. They were also encouraged to fast one meal a day and collect the savings from their meal fast to contribute to TRAC-WSCS projects. To help them in observing the week of prayer and fasting, a devotional booklet and an embroidered pouch was distributed by the WSCS ladies to the congregation on Sunday, 14 September 2008. In preparation for the week of prayer and fasting, the WSCS conducted a workshop entitled "Beyond Imagination" on 13 September 2008, conducted by Mrs Lai-Kheng Pousson. The 50 participants at the workshop were challenged to "Think BIG; Go DEEP", based on Ephesians 3:20. Mrs Lai-Kheng Pousson challenging the participants to “Think BIG; go DEEP” "Everything is possible with God when we allow God to work through and in us. When Mrs Pousson said that there is no "junior" Holy Spirit for new Christians and no "senior" Holy Spirit for matured Christians as the Holy Spirit in both persons is the same Spirit of God, that was an eye-opener to me." shared Magdalene Fones, who attended the workshop. "This new revelation impacted me and Patricia, a new believer from a Catholic background.” In her sharing, Mrs Pousson said that multiplying 2 fish and 5 loaves to feed 5000 hungry people, with 12 baskets of left-overs, was possible through the power of God and praying is NOT "Beyond Imagination", according to Ephesians 3:20. "As we empty ourselves and allow God to take full control of our lives, Ephesians 3:20 says "God can do more than we ask or think,". So when we pray, it has a rippling effect throughout all generations, for more things are wrought by prayers than this world dreams of. That impacts and encourages me to pray unceasingly," concludes Magdalene. The week of prayer and fasting ended with a Celebration Breakfast on Sunday, 21 September 2008, where church worshippers donated their savings from their week of fasting and enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast provided by the WSCS. A total of S$7,378.15 was collected, including S$2229.15 from the Silver Boxes children who participated in the WPSD. The funds collected will be channeled to the following TRAC-WSCS Projects - Nongleang Water Project, Chiangmai, Thailand; Girls Brigade "One Chance Project”, Cambodia; and Methodist Mission Society Special Fund. • 2004 Love Is

2004 Love Is Ng Choon Hwee Choon Hwee is our Director of the Ministry to the Visually Impaired (MVI). If you wish to find out more about the Ministry to the Visually Impaired and how you can serve there, please drop Choon Hwee an email at mvi@plmc.org . “Love is... when the blind can see and the deaf can hear the warmth from your heart” "Each Sunday, after the 9 am service, I see a small group of people standing at the bottom of the staircase leading to the Sanctuary. They seem to be happy and contented, and so I think it is best to leave them alone. On second thoughts, I should try to befriend them, but beyond the pleasantries of Good morning' and 'How are you?', I just do not know what else to say. Worse, I may unknowingly say things that are hurtful or offensive." If you have not guessed it yet, I am referring to our visually impaired members, most of whom have been attending PLMC for more than 10 years. While it is true that they are comfortable worshipping in our church, I would like to encourage our sighted brothers and sisters to make them feel even more at home by befriending them. True, it can be difficult breaking into a group and very often, sighted people are at a loss as to what to say or do when they meet a visually impaired person. I do not have any special formula. Friendship takes time to build, and while it requires at least two persons, would like to encourage you, our sighted brothers and sisters, to make the first move since many visually impaired people are not able to see who is around them. So, for a start, drop by, introduce yourself and say "hello". Offer assistance whenever you can, but do not feel rejected if your offer of help is declined. Visually impaired people will try to be as independent as possible but will not reject a kind offer when help is needed. So let us work at building friendships and if we persist, in due time, you will discover that visually impaired and sighted people do share many common interests and concerns. What these are, I leave it to you to find out. Besides, you can also gather first hand information on matters relating to blindness as you may, in the course of your life, need to help or minister to someone who has vision problems. “Love is ... when the blind can see and the deaf can hear ... the warmth from your heart." • 2010 - 2021 | 2015 The Marriage Course

2015 The Marriage Course The Marriage Course is an 8 session course designed for married couples who want to work together to develop a fantastic marriage and a great husband-wife relationship. Developed in 1996, the course is now run worldwide by founders Nicky and Sila Lee, co-authors of The Marriage Book and The Parenting Book, from the Holy Trinity Brompton Church, London, UK (where the Alpha Course originated). For this issue, we invite Adrian and Emily to share their experience with us! We excitedly signed up for the Marriage course, eager to experience the course’s objective of strengthening couples' relationships and to gain deeper insights into the various aspects in marriage. The topics, such as building strong foundations and resolving conflicts, were of keen interest and practicality to us. The highlight of the marriage course was the discussions in the candlelight setting. The video facilitators employed light-hearted discussions and humour to arouse our interest. Week after week, we learnt how various couples across the world, of different ages and years in marriage, improved their marriage by utilising the appropriate tools from the course. You may also like Share Testimony 2015 Honouring Our Volunteers Family Life Ministry 2010 - 2021 Talking through the material in the course manual within a comfortable and confidential setting during Friday evenings have helped us to understand each other and the individual differences we both have a little better. We dated for eight years before we got married and even after three years of marriage, there was actually more to find out about each other so that we can better match our strides. Discussion duration was set at a good pace, between three to thirty minutes depending on the breadth and depth of the particular topic. Through all those discussions, we learnt how we can communicate better with each other. We have always taken time to face and resolve issues. However, with the tools, we now understand what our personal and spouse's barriers to talking are, or hindrances to listening. Thus, we are able to identify communication issues and attempt to apply principles to solve the problem more effectively. Discussing about our upbringing also gave us time to reflect on our unmet childhood needs and allowed us to list ways to help each other. In the course, we also had time to reflect on how we respond when we feel hurt and how we display anger. Talking about it helped us to identify each other ‘s trigger point and how we can better express our views even in the midst of disagreements. We encourage all married couples to invest in strengthening their bond through the course. Those with great marriages can make it even greater! After all, it’s seven meaningful evenings of great food and learning in a safe and romantic environment.. Since marriage is designed to be in a dynamic state, we have much more to learn and encounter as a couple in every season of our life! You can also look forward to the 8th session where you and your spouse renew your covenant vows! You may also like Share Testimony 2015 Honouring Our Volunteers Family Life Ministry 2010 - 2021

  • PLMC's Covenant Praise and Prayer Service (CPPS)

PLMC's Covenant Praise and Prayer Service (CPPS) Sunny & Yoke Ming, Yap The CPPS service started out in PLMC in 1991 as a service whereby the "flow of the Service is lead by the Holy Spirit". The Service was helmed by a group of PLMC members (the late uncle Khoo Oon Hoe, Jeremy Gwee and Vincent Chang) in a small classroom in the adjoining church premises. Subsequently it was later helmed by pastor David Wee Boon Hock. This Service started out with an initial attendance of about 10-20 church members and run concurrently with the 11.15am traditional Service. The congregation was encouraged to pray (in words and 'in tongue' as lead by the Holy Spirit') before the Worship commenced. We had external Speakers to preach the sermons. The manifested presence of the Holy Spirit was strongly felt in every of the Service and within a few months, the congregation grew 'exponentially' such that the classroom had to be enlarged by breaking down the partitioning walls. Under the manifested presence of the Holy Spirit, some individuals who came out for prayer were ministered to, with some started to pray in tongue (as desired in their heart) and some manifested and were delivered. Over the years, the congregation in CPPS grew and evolved into a separate Service running in concurrently with the church 11.15am Service. It was later renamed as Lifespring service during Rev. Wee Boon Hock’s time. During these periods, monthly Healing ministries were held and church members were encouraged to attend and learnt to pray in tongue as lead by the Holy Spirit. In year 2001, it was merged with 11.15am traditional service and evolved into a contemporary service, renamed Celebration Service. • Ushers' Ministry | Ushering

Ushering Jennifer Lim Apart from greeting the congregation as they arrive and guiding them to their seats, the ushers at PLMC play a very important role in helping to create a warm family-like atmosphere which allows for worshippers to ready their hearts for worship. Jennifer Lim, Head usher for the Sanctuary Service, who has been serving the Lord and congregation for the past 38 years, takes us down memory lane. How did you first get involved in the ushering ministry? I started ushering in 1983, not long after my baptism. It had never occurred to me to serve in any ministry let alone help out in ushering. I was approached by a sister to help with the distribution of the church bulletin before service, and I agreed without hesitation. This became a weekly duty. Over time, I also started helping out more in the collection of the offering alongside Mrs Jennifer Rymne. When Ms Mary Gordon, who was the then Head of the Ushering Ministry, left PLMC, I was asked to take on the role, and I did so wholeheartedly. On reflection, God was progressively leading me to the ministry that He had planned for me. How was ushering like when you first started? During the 80's, the congregation size was small. I remember we only had 6 ushers. But God was ever so faithful; when PLMC was rebuilt, the new sanctuary was twice the size of that of the old sanctuary and so our congregation grew. To be honest, I was quite anxious because I did not know where we were going to find so many ushers. It was a very daunting task to build up the team. But God was faithful and provided, multiplying our team of ushers by 10-fold. Today, we have a team of 60 ushers which has resulted in a need for a weekly roster, so that everyone can get a chance to serve our Lord and the congregation. You may also like Share Testimony 1984 Musical 2021 WSCS Visit to Homebound Ushers' Ministry What is your fondest memory of being in the ushering ministry? One of my fondest memories of ushering is watching the babies grow. I used to usher in the Manger and it was so beautiful watching these lovely babies, who came as newborns, take their first steps as toddlers and then be running around as pre-schoolers. When they ‘graduated’ from the Manger to begin the next leg of their Christian growth at Silverboxes, it was bittersweet because it had been such a joy to watch them grow, and I would miss them. I looked forward to Holy Communion Sundays when these children would join their parents for the main service, and I could see how much they had grown. What do you enjoy most about ushering? What I love most about ushering is being able to meet new people, and befriending them. At first, they may just be acquaintances but over the years, you have more conversations and get to know them and their families as friends. You also get to know who the doctors are, which is important, because in the event of an emergency, it is a lot easier to know who to turn to get medical assistance. I also love the friendships I have made within the ushering team over the years. It is such a joy to be able to catch up with each other as we prepare the logistics each week before service begin. I have developed close friendships with some of these ladies I serve with; we share our joys, celebrate each other’s successes, and support each other through difficult times with prayer and a comforting shoulder. Now, under the ‘new normal’ of this endemic, we are no longer able to interact with one another as freely due to the safety management measures. Regretfully, we are no longer get to enjoy as much of the friendly conversations and camaraderie we had on the Sundays when we would meet face-to-face in service before Covid struck. However, I am thankful that we are back on-site for service and, thus, still have the opportunity to serve, even if not as often as before. I pray that as this pandemic fades away, we will see a return of our congregation and ushers to worship and serve as a community, as an act of worship to our Lord. What is it you hope for the future of the ushering ministry? My hope to see the young adults be the next generation of ushers. Currently, most of our ushers are in their fifties and sixties; and I think we may be a little bit old fashioned in the way we run the ushering ministry. Having young adults come in will bring along fresh ideas into this ministry. Furthermore, with younger ushers, we will be able to connect better with the younger members of the congregation who will raise their families in this church. For me, serving is worship of my Lord. Personally, my favourite verse is from Joshua 24:15; “But as for me and my household we will serve the Lord.” I believe that being a Christian is being part of a family; and being part of a family means that each of us must serve. Jesus came to serve, and so, we too should follow His example and serve others. God gives us different gifts and passions to serve His people and bring about His worship. Thus, if God has given you the desire and the gift of befriending, come and join us in worshipping the Lord our God, through this ministry. • 1995 The PLMC Building Project

1995 The PLMC Building Project Slowly but Surely Church members and friends, including those who have pledged funds and supported the building project, through various ways and means, must be anxious over when the new building will actually materialize. It has been more than two years since the project was first sounded out at the LCEC in August 1992. Progress has been slow. Apparently, construction of the new church building can take place only after new development plans for the neighbourhood has been finalised - and publicised - by the authorities. But until that day, it is reassuring to know that members of the PLMC Building Project Committee are being kept posted of current trends through their meetings with officials from the Land Office from time to time. Meanwhile, the funds are coming in, slowly but surely. Mr Keong Choon Jin, Chairman of PLMC Building Finance Sub-Committee, pointed out: "Donations for the rooms in the new church building have been encouraging. So far, 22 out of the 46 rooms have been taken up by donors, amounting to a total of $845,000 since the donation drive was launched about 6 months ago. We hope to raise $3 million for all the rooms.” He added: “We envisage that the first substantial payment from the building fund will be made to the Land Office, once it releases the land for sale. This can happen anytime this year.” To inject the Fund into the project, the Fund-Raising sub-Committee has organised various campaigns such as donations through coin boxes for children, the Sunday breakfast collections (ongoing since 1993) and fiesta nights. The major fund-raising drive in 1994 was the Family Weekend on 10-11 September 1994, climaxed by the "Beauty and the Beast" performance. Mr John Lim, chairman of the sub-committee announced: "There are plans to stage an International Food Festival this September. Side attractions will be the display and sale of toys, books and other items. Other Possible projects include a music recital, High Tea cum Talk or Fashion Show and a sports/swimming meet." Mr Keong made this call to members and friends of PLMC: "We are appealing to those who haven't pledged to reconsider. But It's still not too late to come forward." 2009 Filipino Fellowship 25th Anniversary 25 Years Of Celebrating God's Faithfulness In 1984, a small group of Filipino domestic helpers began gathering on Sunday mornings for worship, bible study and fellowship while their employers attended the Sunday worship services. Today, the Filipino Fellowship (FF) celebrates its 25th Anniversary. It has grown to about 39 members and they still meet faithfully every Sunday morning. Worshipping the Lord, studying the Word, praying for and having fellowship together has helped the members to grow and support one another spiritually. It has become like a home away from home for the members. The FF is more than just a fellowship group as the members have been equipped to share the gospel and have begun to reach out to their fellow countrymen through regular outreach events. In October 2008, the first batch of cell leader interns completed their training and the first four cell groups held their first cell meeting in March 2009. You may also like Share Testimony 2015 Our Filipino Friends 2010 Living-stones 10th Anniversary Filipino Service Thank You, God!! by Adora Villanveva I am grateful to God for the privilege of being part of the Filipino Fellowship. I thank God for giving me this opportunity to be able to worship Christ together with my countrymen, and at the same time serve in this fellowship. Indeed, I have grown in my spiritual walk and have been nurtured in the way of the Lord. I thank God for Brother Eugene and Sister Jane Kwek, and Sister Poh Chean who have been guiding and counseling us through the many bible study sessions. The love, care and concern that they have shown to us is truly inspired by God. I am truly inspired to continue to serve Him in the next leg of my faith journey when I return home. It is my heartfelt prayer that many more out there will come and join us in this fellowship; that they will experience the joy and love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, just like I did. My Newfound Family by Babylyn Artiaga May God's abundant blessing be upon you, brothers-and-sisters in Christ! I have been very joyful and very blessed since joining the Filipino Fellowship six years ago. Since I joined the FF, the feelings of homesickness have left me. My home is found in this new "family", this "family" who enthrones Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. Every Sunday, as I come into the Filipino Fellowship family, Jesus will minister to me through the praise and worship songs that I lift up to Him. As I sit at His feet to receive His words, He begins to plough the hard soil and He softens it to make it ready for His imperishable seed to take root. He is the King of my life. I spend quiet time with Him. I meditate on His life-giving Words. Every year, on my annual holiday home visit, without fail. I will speak forth and proclaim His promises to my family members and friends. Praise the Lord that my mother, my nephew and niece are now born again. I came to Singapore to seek economic wealth, but I have found more than wealth - I have found God's treasure. I know that God has called us to fulfill His great commission. I will endeavour to be trained and equipped through this family. I have identified myself with God's Kingdom purpose to be an effective missionary in His reconciliation ministry, wherever He wants to plant me. Glory be to God! My Life As A Christian by Judith Columna My initial years as a young Christian were uneventful. When I began worshipping at PLMC, I began to face more challenges and trials. Ironically, I encountered more troubles as compared to the time before I came to know the Lord. "How could that be??”, I would think to myself. Here I am in trouble and there He was not doing anything to help me. Many times, I would “point” accusing fingers at God for the predicament I was in. However, surprisingly, when Sunday came, I would find myself willingly and happily making my way to meet Him in church. I know that it was He who let me to church when His words were shared, my negative emotions would just melt away. I sensed His tender care, His love, His touch, His peace, His comfort, His embrace in His closeness. Many times I felt guilty as I had conveniently blame Him for my situation. As I sat at His feet and received from Him every Sunday, He began to teach me and show me more of Himself. His words are always true. The scripture I hold fast to is from Psalms 23 and 121 -- “The Lord is my Shepherd and Helper. He watches over me in my coming and going.” As a migrant worker, we face many, many ups and downs in our new situation. We leave our family and country and have to embrace a new culture and new work environment in a new land. We have to adapt quickly within a short period of time. We carry a lot of expectations on our shoulders. I am so grateful that our Lord’s yoke is light. I am so grateful that He has given me a good employer. Not too long ago, I went back to the Philippines. My mother was very sick and we thought we were going to lose her. I asked my mother if she would accept Jesus as her savior. With all her heart she said, "Yes". My mother is still alive today. Although she is bedridden, I continue to trust the Lord for healing for her. The Lord's promise is in Psalms 121, “I lift my eyes to the hills where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord”, also came true when I was desperately in need of money for my mother's medication. A PLMC member, my fellow countryman, blessed me with $200 out of the blue, the exact amount I was praying for. Thank God for His miracle. God never fails to answer my prayer! I want to live a life that is always overflowing with thankfulness and always giving thanks and praises to God. I do not know where He will be planting me next but I will live to serve Him. Without Him, I am nothing. I thank Him for counting me righteous and accepting me as one of His children. I Am Growing In My Faith by Edna Ruiz I had never left the Philippines nor my family before. Coming to Singapore and being separated from my family was very daunting for me. I was filled with so much uncertainty and anxiety. God heard my cries and blessed me with a good employer who is a member of PLMC.Thank you, God, for their kindness and understanding. I have been working with them for the past 8 good years. I am so grateful that, through my employers, I became a part of the Filipino Fellowship. The Fellowship has given me an opportunity to serve in the praise and worship team. I am growing in my faith journey. He is my rock and the source of my strength. I know that God has great plans for all His children. He has put me here in Singapore for a purpose. I will continue to sit at His feet, to receive and grow into His likeness. Praise be to our God. • WSCS | 1999 From Marthas to Marys

1999 From Marthas to Marys Being & Beginnings WSCS caters to mums and singles too. Ong Han Nah and Doris Wong with her children Gregory and Grace. My people have different needs and interests. I have been a gathering place, a focal point for most of their lives, as they build this community of faith. To help women grow in the knowledge and experience of God as revealed in Jesus Christ. To challenge them to respond to God's redemptive fellowship. To make Christ known throughout the world and develop a personal responsibility for the whole task of the church. That is what WSCS (Women's Society for Christian Service) aims to achieve. PLMC sisters in Christ, Mrs Doris Wong, Mrs BG Knoo, Mrs Jeannie Wona and friend. Think of WSCS and these are the many images that come to mind: women helping to prepare food for church events, helpers preparing the communion elements and washing the little cups afterwards, flower arrangers and home visitation teams and church ushers. The images revolve around service, service and more service. Service seems to be the women's forte, at least in the past. One of the WSCS members interviewed described themselves as the Marthas of the Church... and rightly so. A lot of planning is undertaken to ensure that the many activities of the Church are done by this band of faithful women. Very often, the duties performed by these women are taken for granted and treated as activities of lesser importance. Afterall, the men seemingly have more important tasks of leadership to perform and any man worth his salt, would shy away from these supposedly menial tasks. Thankfully, as Bob Dylan so described, the times are changing and the roles played by men and women are less stereotypical these days. Some men enjoy cooking and are equally adept at serving food. Even rarer, there are males who are well-versed in the art of flower arrangement. Before joining WSCS, some of the younger women thought it was a society mainly for housewives, mothers and grandmothers and a rather cliquish one at that. In fact, the role of the WSCS has been largely misperceived and misunderstood as being just do-gooders. Fortunately, this misconception is slowly broken down as increasingly, better educated women from the working class are joining the ranks of the WSCS and taking on leadership positions. You may also like Share Testimony 2005 WSCS Christmas Outreach 2018 Your Work Matters WSCS Did you know that all women members of the Church automatically qualify for membership of the WSCS? Despite the potential number of members out there, there are only about 30 regular members. However, It is encouraging to note that there are now about 75 women who are regularly taking part in the Bible studies conducted by the WSCS. One of the key things that the recent leadership did to better cater to the needs of members was to conduct a survey to establish cell group ministries that will empower the lives of its members and also enrich the lives of their families. As a result, the WSCS launched two Bible Studies; “Experiencing God” by Henry Blackaby and Beth Moore's “A Woman's Heart - God's Dwelling Place”. Both these Bible Studies have been well received by their members. The WSCS's focus has shifted from one of service only to include devotion and Bible study. Many of the members feel that it is only through the study of Scriptures, encouragement and training in righteousness that the fruit of the Spirit will emerge. Only then, will they be empowered to serve the Church in a more effective manner. They feel strongly that God can use women to make an impact on the lives of their families. (Remember, the hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world!) One of the women interviewed commented that the focus of WSCS was changing from the social to the spiritual resulting in women growing in their faith. Another felt that only when they are focused on God can they meet the needs of others more effectively: for in serving others, they stop serving themselves. Looking ahead, the WSCS feel that there is a need to reach out to women in all situations. This would include single women, single mothers, widows, divorcees and those who are separated from their partners in different social stratus in the church and provide the necessary encouragement, moral and physical support. As women are exposed to the same pressures that men face, it would also be important to build up counselling skills to help those in need. Another area of concern for the WSCS has been in outreach and support of those in the mission fields. They have supported missionaries in the Philippines, India and the Sasaks in Lombok. When asked what they would like to share with the readers of this book, they said: “Women are always ready to serve the Church, in whatever the Church wants to do. The harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few - only in serving others, we discover our spiritual gifts. Encourage all women to join the WSCS, participate in the activities and allow the Lord to touch their lives and lead them in the area of service He wants them to be in." To all the women past and present in the WSCS – thank you for your faithful service. To the many more who will serve in the future - long live the Marthas and the Marys, and more power to the women!
