A Life Transforming Experience
What is an encounter with God?
In the bible, we read of several well-known biblical persons who had encounters with God. Moses met with the Lord in the burning bush (Exodus 3); Jacob wrestled with God (Genesis 32); and Paul met Jesus on the road to Damascus (Acts 9). An encounter is simply the experience of coming face to face with God and the truth of His word.
At the recent Jesus Encounter (JE) session held on 29 - 30 July 2005, over 80 cell members took the opportunity to examine and confront negative influences and patterns in their lives; as well as deal with strongholds or bondages which were preventing them from living in the freedom and wholeness that God has planned for all our lives.

Before JE
Although I have been a so-called Christian for almost 13 years, I felt that my daily personal walk with Jesus was very empty, dry and unfulfilled. Deep down in my heart, I wondered how to and yearned to encounter God and experience my first love for Him again as my almighty and loving personal saviour.
During JE
The teaching and sharing on the ministry of the Holy Spirit were an eye-opener for me. I confessed, and thank God that He removed my long-held phobia and prejudice towards those who speak in tongues and manifest different kinds of body movements during worship. I was given a new insight and understanding on the gift and power of the Holy Spirit.
I also learnt how to identify and overcome the spiritual strongholds in my life, which I now realise could have been the strong, hidden barrier in my spiritual journey with Christ.
After JE
I thank God that my spiritual walk with Him has become livelier day after day. I am more vigilant in checking my lifestyle, thoughts and deeds. I have also been more determined, and have reminded myself, to meditate regularly on the Word of God. Lastly, I am more assured of my position in Christ, and have become more appreciative of and acquainted with the leading of the Holy Spirit.
