Missions 80:80

Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, China, India and Myanmar – these are the nations where our church supports missionaries, national workers and organisations.
MISSIONS 80:80 - TRANSFORMING LIVES was our missions initiative to thank God for His faithfulness to PLMC over the past 80 years.

July 2012 to June 2013 saw 1,169 worshippers going on 126 missions trips to 13 nations and 30 June was a day set aside to praise God for stirring the hearts of His people to missions.

Booths of these 7 nations were set up - each displaying photos and information about each country and past trippers' experiences. Future trips were promoted and brochures handed out containing information about upcoming trips. A video clip showcasing the various missions trips was also screened in the hall. The flags of 15 nations from as near as Malaysia and Indonesia to as far as Japan and Kazakhstan, were proudly displayed. To signify our church's missions support for these countries.

Colourful national costumes were donned by our champions, members and even ushers that morning. The door gifts were a bookmark cum globe-shaped mobile phone screen cleaner, reminding members to "Declare His Glory among the Nations - Psalm 96:3a". A procession of different national flags started off the celebration service. Procession members were past mission trippers - 15 adults and 10 children.
A video was shown of the various missions trips and Charlene Chew from the youth ministry gave a special presentation. Two children (Josiah and Sara-Ann), one youth (Charlene Chew) and an adult (Justin Cheong) sang the Preparatory song "Go Light Your World". They represented the children, youth and adults. Thereafter, Reverend Aaron Tay from Living Waters Methodist Church preached on "From Disciples to Apostles".

The celebration was a success in many ways. As many as 150 members prepared and helped out for this special event. More than 30 members signed up for future missions trips. Indeed the festivities were not just to give thanks for successful past missions trips but also, to celebrate the beginning of many more to come.
