2019 Thinking About His Love

Raquel Cardano

For many of our sisters in the Filipino Service, Mother's Day is a painful reminder of their physical absence from their family especially their growing children. Many of them have come to work here in Singapore to provide a better life for their families through financial provision, leaving their loved ones back home.

But this year's Mothers' Day was made special for them by our Mandarin Service (MS) brothers and sisters. A special lunch buffet was sponsored by MS for the Filipino Service (FS) worshippers before the worship service that Sunday. They also joined the early part of the service to worship the Lord, singing a Tagalog praise song. Although they could not sing a single Tagalog word, we could see them dancing and expressing their "Halal" (Hebrew for "praise") towards the God of the nations. Indeed, worship and music unite the hearts of people from every tribe and tongue.

After that part of the worship, the MS brothers and sisters lined up in front to pray for each one of us from the Filipino Service, while blessing each with lovely door gifts. It was such a heart-warming portrait of the Body of Christ praying and caring for each other, being one - just what Jesus prayed to God the Father for in John 17.

We sang a few more worship songs, which included the song "Think About His Love" by Don Moen. The words went, "Think about His love, think about His goodness Think about His grace that's brought us through For as high as the heavens above So great is the measure of our Father's love Great is the measure of our Father's love So great is the measure of our Father's love..."

Tearing uncontrollably, I was singing the song and in my mind, God's love was demonstrated right before my eyes. It was so real, so tangible, and so true. Perhaps, for the Mandarin Service, they wanted to obey God, when they were prompted by the Spirit to bless the Filipino Service. But for the Filipino Service, it brought inexpressible joy, feeling the touch of God's hands through their generosity, care and prayer.
