PLMC WSCS celebrated her 80th Anniversary on Saturday, 13 August 2016 with a Thanksgiving Service after the AGM followed by a sumptuous dinner.

Mrs. Chew Hock Hin, wife of our first Pastor, started WSCS in PLMC in 1936. Sewing classes were held for the ladies. The ladies ushered in church, sang in choirs, did flower arrangements, prepared Sacraments, and sewed the lectern drapes and the choir gowns. Mrs Chew taught the ladies processes of the ministry's business and took care of their spiritual health.

During the Thanksgiving Service, Mrs Nancy Chua gave us a glimpse into the work of the WSCS in the early days and we were very encouraged by the passion the ladies had for the ministry, and the great lengths they went to to get to church for WSCS weekly meetings.

Mrs Doris Wong, the longest-serving WSCS leader, shared how she walked into her first WSCS meeting without knowing anyone and about the warmth of the ladies that spurred her on till today! Like Doris, Mrs Sally Seow shared how the work of WSCS has evolved over time and about God's equipping and sustaining her while she served.

We thank God for His faithfulness in sustaining the ministry of WSCS to this day. The relevance of WSCS in PLMC was questioned at one time. We are ever grateful to God for the support of the leaders in TRAC and General Conference WSCS during those trying times.

We are also appreciative of the support of the LCEC during that time. We thank God for the wisdom bestowed upon our fore-mothers who saw to it that women were given the opportunity to serve in the church and that a seat was kept in the leadership of the church, providing the rich legacy left for us.

We thank God that He has continuously raised up ladies to serve as leaders in the ministry and that younger women are coming forward to serve in the Executive Committee.

God has been very good to the WSCS in PLMC. He has continuously blessed our ladies who in turn give very generously to our Blessing Bags to fund our work.

We thank God for supportive Pastors and Leaders, for the church staff for their clerical support. Most importantly, we thank our women who believe in our ministry.

Truly He is Faithful and we know we can depend on Him to see us through the next 80 years of serving His precious daughters.

To God be the Glory!
