2009 Sonshine Kids
Celebrated 5th Anniversary on 27 June 2009

Sonshine Kids is 5 years old. God has been faithful, is faithful and will continue to be faithful to His children. We began in 2004, with a small group of volunteers who believed that the Lord is reaching out to the community's children. From humble beginnings, the weeks turned to years, of sowing and reaping the fruits of changed lives, for Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
27 June 2009 was a day filled with thanksgiving to the Lord. After weeks of preparation and planning, flyer distribution, assignment of duties and getting help from cell members, we were finally ready to reap the harvest that is ripe for harvesting.
Everyone gave of his or her best to the Lord, with the talents that God has given each of them. It was a day of the Lord, as we see the workings of 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 being worked out to the glory of our Lord.
The children arrived in the bus from Hougang and the celebrations began with the registration of the children, for contact tracing, and temperature taking. But nothing could disturb the fun and learning that the children were going to have.
The children from Covenant FSC, HOPE SCC, the Hougang community and the Sonshine Kids mingled together. We thank God for our leaders who put together a photo and video montage, after interviewing the children and compiling the photos taken over the years. We also thank God for Pastor Peter who gave a word of encouragement to the children and the leaders, followed by a song presentation by the Sonshine Kids with our very own Sonshine Kids Theme Song, composed by Jimmy, and a time of fun and laughter with the message of God's love, from Daughlas.
Then the children went to various stations to play with the games that ranged from shooting games, golf, soccer, "string the wire” games, computer cooking games, sand art, tattoo painting and balloon sculpturing.
We thank God for the many helpers who came to offer their help through their talents and gifts that made this 5th Anniversary celebrations so successful. It was a day of remembrance of God's faithfulness and love.
We praise God for each and every of the coaches, teachers, helpers and friends who touched each child's life in his own special and unique way. May we continue to shine as we let the little children respond to the Lord as the Lord beckons... "Come unto Me”.
