First Combined Worship Service at Boundary Road
Hexacon handover of Paya Lebar Methodist Church
On 15 Oct 98, Hexacon Construction Pte Ltd officially handed over the whole church complex. This ceremony was witnessed by the pastors and those who have been involved in the church building project in their various capacities.
10.00am * Sunday * 25 October 1998
Although the combined service was at 10.00am, church members started arriving by 9.00am. Most were happy just to explore the new church complex.
By 10.00am, the sanctuary that could seat about 1,400 was packed to the brim and many had to stand throughout the service.
After the service, many lingered to look for their Thanksgiving Stones, even the kids were fascinated by these memorials to God’s faithfulness and goodness.
For those of us who were packed like sardines in the pews, the combined choir's anthem was a refreshing respite.
The full-house scenario was repeated at the gallery and the cry room.
