1996 Rev Wee Boon Hup's Message

Moving House

Several times in our lives we participate in events which have great historic significance. Often we are not aware of their significance until the events have passed. Rarely are we conscious that we are in the process of making history.

We are right now in the process of making history with the building of our new church complex. It is a history of some significance because the complex will stand out as a landmark in this part of the island. Future development along the north-eastern corridor will see the Church as an integral part of the landscape.

More important, however, than our Church being just a physical landmark is the contribution we make to the social and spiritual landscape. Our vision must be to shape our Church into a people who transform the community.

Buildings are for people. A church is a people. A church building is for God's people to fulfil His mission for them. A great part of that mission with the new church complex will be to touch the lives of people in our community. Present ministries will be further developed and new ones initiated in order to achieve this.

In believing that we can fulfil that mission effectively, we must expect and make room for growth. Hence the necessity to develop to the maximum whatever land we have.

While we may be in the process of making it, history will also judge us in the end. When that happens, let it be found that we were faithful in our stewardship and in our mission.

To God be the Glory.
