1985 WSCS Flower Stewards
Cheah Seing Hoo
At every worship service, the altar is beautifully decorated with flowers. This is the effort of a group of lady members from our congregation who serve as flower stewards.

The idea of having flower stewards was brought up four years back, after the congregation felt that the florists who supplied flowers to the church every Sunday made very stereotyped arrangements. So in January 1981, Mrs Iris Khoo formed the flower stewards ministry with 10 members from the WSCS. Miss Ong Han Nah was invited to teach the ladies the basics of flower arrangement. She gave 8 lessons over a period of 2 months and since then, the flower stewards have been doing the arrangements by themselves every Saturday afternoon in the church's kitchen.
Flowers are either bought from the florist or the market, and are arranged with sticks and baskets. The profusion of carnations, roses and orchids so pleasantly presented, do much to brighten our Sunday worship and add colour to the sanctuary.
If you would like to join the flower stewards in their ministry, meet the ladies on Saturdays at 5pm in the church kitchen or call Mrs Iris Khoo.
