1984 WSCS Retreat at Penang

Mrs Khoo Bee Guat

President of WSCS

Some families of the WCSC joined by a family from Trinity and Fairfield WSCS made a trip to the Methodist Centre at Penang Hill for five days from 1st September. The ages ranged from five years to seventy-five years. Physically there were the strong young ones and the "weak-kneedā€ seniors, but everyone was in perfect spirits.

Jehovah Jireh! The Lord was truly our Provider and still is! We went in full faith with Jesus as our leader. We arrived safely but old hearts and weak-knees were taken aback at the rough and rugged way down to the Centre. He provided us with a strong and encouraging person in Major Robson. And with the young ones, they carried all the burdens on their shoulders down to the Centre. A beautiful manifestation of the spirit of care and concern.

Living by faith was most exciting, especially when a 'breakdown' confronted us. We got together to pray and claimed His provisions. That night and on subsequent days we had hearty breakfasts and sumptuous dinners.

The Spirit of the Lord was truly upon us. We were one big family united in the Lord of Love and Christian Fellowship. Morning and evening we blessed Him with praises and thanksgiving. The couples, Mr and Mrs Han and Mr and Mrs Kang, shared in the devotions. Major Robson led us in the singing. Dr and Mrs Seevaratham came and gave us a dynamic message on 'Maturity in Christian Living'.

The view of Penang from the hills was beautiful and we could not refrain from declaring the glory of the Lord for the glorious sunrise, the picturesque sunset, the vastness of the sea and the stretch of golden sand. Most of all we thank God for the fine weather all through the holiday. It was a very enjoyable holiday.

The Lord has truly been our keeper, helper, protector and our guardian as promised in Ps 121:1-8. Him be all praise and glory!
